Personal history

Piet Henschel was born in 2868 in the Talopi Xonod town of Katzen, on the Nodum moon of Tiann. The Henschel family was fairly influential, as Piet's father Per was chairman of the Future's Education Caucus, a committee in the Xonod Senate staffed by members of the Talopi Taxpayer League senators. The committee was responsible for all the nation's propaganda.
In 2852, at age 16, Piet joined the Talopi Xonod Army. He was an average soldier, but was ambitious to climb the ranks. Using his father's influence and ability to get results despite high costs, Piet found himself promoted to Senior Captain by 2843. He was assigned to his local Garrison at Fort Katzen and given command of 2nd Battalion. Just before Talopi Xonod declared independence, the Fort Commander and Senior Captain of 1st Battalion were reassigned, and Henschel was promoted to Commander.
He planned and led the first battle of the Tianni Civil War, Skirmish at Cano Homestead. He continued to be a major figure in the Tradelands Campaign (2841-2839) before being promoted to General after the final battle of the campaign. He was also awarded the Order of Xonod Freedom.
As part of the ceasefire, Piet was one of 100 officers and politicians from Talopi Xonod tried for war crimes. He was found guilty and was ejected from the airlock of the Talopabaum-Class Battlecruiser Splishoumkoj in 2833.
