Ptolus Calendar

The 28th day of Newyear in the
721st Year of the Imperial Age.

Telling Time in Ptolus

In Ptolus, as in the rest of the Empire, people tell time on a twenty-four-hour clock: 1st Hour begins the hour after midnight, followed by 2nd Hour and so on, all the way to 23rd Hour.

Notes

While Ptolus gives a length of days ranging from 7 to 19 hours, they provide little more. The sunset and sunrise are currently arbitrary times for the moment. Also there is no mention of the moon cycles or phases so these are again arbitrary values.

I love the way you did your calendar. It's just the right mixture of familiar and different elements. I haven't tackled the question of how people mark time in my galaxy yet, but your article has helped me to see that I don't have to completely reinvent the wheel. I can use elements of Earth calendars and still make it feel like it's describing someplace completely different. Thanks for the inspiration!
