Life during the time of the RED is hard, but working in the Heywood Industrial Zone at this time is even harder. The excessive demand for work and the limited work positions gave the industries the advantage. Exhausting working hours, harsh conditions and constant performance checks push the workforce on their edge.

On the darkest of hours, Rockerboy Mic Bolt managed to inspire the workforce to fight back. A three days long massive strike was planed and executed over weekend but on day one, corporation security interfered to stop "Bolt Initiative" as they called it. Despite the fact that the three day strike was unsuccessful, the Industries of Heywood realized that going against Bolt was not cost efficient and decided over a different course of action. Though they refused to negotiate with the strikers, no retaliation actions were taken against the workers. Mic on the other hand saw the opportunity to form an army of his own. He recruited a crew, composed of fixers and medias and from the ashes of the failed strike, the the Night City Heywood Labor Union or simply The Union was formed.

The Union is more of a gang than a socialistic force of influence. It recruits workers to secure insiders in the factories to smuggle in or out goods. In return the Union provides the extra money for the workers to make a living and the drugs needed to get through the day. Every member in trouble has the right to ask for The Union's Call to Arms and every member must respond to the call.
