Grand Duchy of Devarin
The Grand Duchy of Devarin (DEV-ah-rin) is a kingdom located on the southern shore of Western Apterra. The current Grand Duchess is Eormen Noke II, 14th Grand Duchess Devarin.
History
After the ascension of Siemarel Ruhkum, 9th King Enerias in the year 945, his half brother Walde Noke raised banners in rebellion, leading to the "War of Half Blood". After the war's end with the death of Siemarel, Walde was crowned 10th King Enerias in the year 948. In 976, Walde declared the end of the Kingdom of Enerias, and along with it the title of King. Instead Walde assumed the title of 1st Grand Duke of Enerias, and following the relocation of the capital to Devarin Duchy, 1st Grand Duke of Devarin. Historians traditionally refer to this year as the first year of the Grand Duchy. In 1136, Grand Duke Ichard Noke, 6th Grand Duke Devarin ordered the expansion of two new duchies, resulting in the formation of the duchies of Hillfar and Ecrin. In 1406, following the death of her father from Myr's Culling, Eorman Noke II took the throne at the age of 16, the youngest age of any coronated Devarii ruler.Grand Dukes Devarin (976)
