Races in Cytherea are largely broken into three categories by scholars: Civilized, Wild, and Monstrous. Civilized races are most commonly seen in cities and towns across the world. These races interact with one another freely, without much pause. While some civilized races may be uncommon in out of the way rural areas, an encounter with one would not be unexpected in any largely populated area. Dwarves, Elves, and Humans are all examples of civilized races.
Wild races are very rare in civilized regions, but not hostile or dangerous. While these races prefer to make their own societies or go at it alone, they will sometimes venture into populated areas for supplies, or seeking help. When encountered abroad, these races will sometimes offer shelter and food to members of civilized races. Aarakocra and Goliaths are examples of wild races.
Monstrous races are brutish, savage creatures. While possessing intelligence and social structures similar to civilized or wild races, monstrous races are often incapable of interacting with other races, or even other tribes of the same race. An encounter with a monstrous race nearly always ends in bloodshed. Goblins, Hobgoblins, and Orcs are examples of monstrous races.
