Thestra

The closest Realm to Diateire after Zahyr, Thestra is known for its mainly tropical-to-temperate climate, large expanses of crystalline waters, violent hurricanes and colourful--albeit deadly--flora and fauna. It is also known for its abundance of adstrumite. Thestra is phase-locked with Diateire, meaning that one side of the Realm always faces Diateire and always has Falsehnight. Although it recieves less sun than the other side, it is as warm due to radiation off Diateire. There are very little seasons since the relative inclination towards the sun and Diateire is mostly the same, there is seasonal fluctuation caused by Diateire's inclination towards the sun.

Geography

The world's surface consists of about 85% ocean. There are no large continents, but rather many island chains and clusters. Storm Rifts are rare and sporadic, occurring mostly with hurricanes, and Land Rifts are practically non-existent, making all in-Realm transport long and unpractical: it would take around 196 days to circumnavigate the equator in the direction of the dominant winds, and around a year and a half (around 490 Thestran days) to navigate against the dominant winds, even with current peak Daantite-Ejii'aari technology. This difficulty of travel makes it so that many regions of Thestra remain free from Dominance control, making Thestra a haven for criminals and pirates of all sorts. There is a lot of tectonic activity. The most violent region is known as Darsarth's Maw, a whole region on the Diateire-facing side of Thestra ringed by volcanoes, where earthquakes and tsunamis are frequent. Coincidentally, the volcano on the island in the center of the Maw, Mount Char, contains one of the two only known Rifts to the Realm of Gorgoz.

Fauna & Flora

Essentially everything--almost literally anything--native from Thestra has evolved to have high levels of strumar deposits in their bodies, leading to a Realm where the flora and fauna is bioluminescent. Flora and fauna is both extremely colourful, and mostly tropical.

Fauna:

Thestran Raaklaeok: like an Andellian Raaklaeok, but larger, aquatic, and coming in a variety of colours including pink, purple and turquoise. One of the rare instances of Thestran fauna which is much more calm than its Andellian cousin. Bluenoose octopus: An aggressive giant octopus with whose rings turn an iridescent blue when it attacks. Brownoose octopus: A pacific giant octopus who mimics the bluenoose octopus in order to scare away giant sharks. Thestran squid: Giant squid which is the source of flamerase ink. Giant shark (Kroan): Megalodon-like shark which hunts krakens, giant squids and smaller aquatic prey. Don't like the taste of human, but will usually only realize this after having swallowed the unfortunate human whole.

Native sentient species:

Bubopun: Amphibian group of sentient salamander-like beings living either on land close to water or in fresh water (only one or two species can live in salty or brackish water). Considered to be non-sentient by most Andellians, Zahyrans or Ejianese people, who usually ignore them. Krakroc: Sentient crustacean-like beings, usually don't like bubopun and live in the ocean. Also considered to be non-sentient by Andellians, Zahyrans or Ejianese people. Nextcal: Reptilian, dinosaur-like anthropomorphic beings with brightly-coloured feathers. Currently considered non-sentient by Nexus-realmers.

Flora:

Cocoa plant Iacona: Group of tree species characterized by their colourful foliage and bioluminescence at night. Meotan: Also called poisonous sweet pear. All parts of the colourful tree and its fruit is poisonous and can be used either as an assassination tool or a powerful psycho-stimulant and hallucinogen. Zanut: bean-like dry fruit which has been described as having the taste of "vanilla with caramel notes". Luxury item in the Nexus.

Natural Resources

Certain luxury food products, such as cocoa, vanilla, spices, zanut and the sugar cane. Also rich in adstrumite and other resources such as ink, certain dyes, certain cures and certain poisons.
