A Sith Thyrsa County

Aernadael is divided into Commonwealths, Provinces and Counties. Each county is administered by a member of the Dark Gentry who is charged with the maintenance and order of the territory under their control. In the old days, they were responsible for diplomatic relations with the unsotha have deteriorated to the point where they are nearly nonexistant.

Structure

A county is administered by a member of the Dark Gentry, who is commonly referred to as Dark Lord, Dark Lady, or Dark Noble, with their household being referred to as Childe or rarely as Dark Childe.

The County Court

Administrative Positions

Intendant

The Intendant is post created to carry out a specific task on behalf of the county. They are granted specific titles related to the function they serve, ie, The Intendant of the Academy, or the Intendant of Wrecca Affairs.  

Keeper of the seal

The Keeper of the seal is the liaison between the county court and the giants.  

Seneschal

The Seneschal is responsible for the welfare and functioning of the workers in the Demesne and the dependent.

Financial Positions

Almoner

The Almoner is responsible for the distribution of funds to the Dependents.  

Chamberlain

The Chamberlain is responsible managing the budgets and properties of the Demesne.

Judicial Positions

Chancellor

The Chancellor is responsible for the various duties related to justice.  

Master of the Shield

The Master of the Shield is a drymann responsible for the Salian Order.

Religious Positions

Confessor

The Confessor is a member of the Trivian Order who is charged with maintaining between the county, its inhabitants, and the spirits.

Territorial Positions

Doorward

The @Doorward is the person responsible the ports of entry into the counties territories.  

Territories

The area of a county is divided into three main sections:  
  1. The Demesne, the area under the direct control of the Dark Gentry.
  2. The Dependent, the area obligated to assist and supply the Dark Gentry in their work.
  3. The Wild, the area either maintained in its natural state or simply with no obligation to the Dark Gentry.
There are some who insist that a fourth division exists containing the wrecca settlements, but since the Dark Gentry has no direct or legal direct sway over these regions, they are no classified as part of the county. The only exception to this rule is that the county is responsible for elder, drymann, and bestial lives and activities within these areas.   The physical territory of all counties is hidden by ward and warden from the eyes of the wrecca.  

The Demesne

The Demesne consists of the Manor House and its associated land, the Department of the Salian Order, and the maintenance of at least one portal to the Otherworld.  

The Dependent

The Dependent consists of the school or schools of Drycraft and Gramarye of which the Dark Gentry are patrons, a shrine or temple of the Sith Thyrsa, locations set aside for the Rephaim and the Seelie Court. Other establishments may be endowed by the Gentry should they see fit.  

The Wild

The Wild consists of the private residences and businesses or drymenn and the natural areas set aside to provide habitat for the magical creatures hunted and killed by the wrecca over the centuries.

Military

Counties are not allowed to maintain a military or militia and must rely on the Salian Order to hold the land until the military can arrive.

Religion

The curates and Heralds of the Sith Thyrsa Covenant are entrusted with the education of the youth and maintaining the rites of initiation in the county. They officiate services at the temple or shrine, ensuring that the work of the covenant is performed.   Some exceptions are made for the practitioners of minority faiths within the county, but the major rites must be practiced to maintain the pacts with the spirits.

Education

The county provides education for its citizens through the patronage of the schools of drycraft and academies of gramarye within their jurisdiction.

Money of the Aernadael Commonwealth

The Laurel is the fundamental unite of currency in the Aernadael Commonwealth, which contains 10 Florin, each containing 100 Shilling.
Legislative Body
A County is administered by a County Court comprising of the Head of the Dark Gentry family, The Mother Soteria of the Trivian Order, a representative of the Seelie Court, and elected drymenn. A representative Giant from the region is entitled to sit on the court, but they rarely attend such meetings. It is traditional to leave a seat empty for the Jinwu representative who is remembered in their absence.   The county court is charged with maintaining order, truth, and justice in the domain under their control.
Judicial Body
Should a matter arise that requires adjudication, the county court will appoint a Chancellor to attend to matter and report back to the county court.
