Session 5: Sharks, Secrets and Sunsets

General Summary

On this episode of Dream Thieves...   Our heroes valiantly fought against the demon shark as well as the Mordugal, the legendary fish that Dip Dip was riding on the open lake, all while attempting to avoid damage to Captain Fiona Wynne's ship the Cerulian. The group managed to load and fire the cannons, bringing the shark down to it's last breath.   Aeða, speaking to the Moldugan, asked for its aid in ridding the world of the demon, and aided him by convincing Dip Dip to abandon his quest for the beast's life and return to his sister. The Moldugan focused his deadly eye beams on the shark and finished his miserable existence, sending him back to where he came from. Fiona was happy to have her ship back, and awarded the heroes with the Cerulian seal, knowing that they were friends of the organization.   After the battle, the heros discovered that Gino, during the crossfire, had abandoned ship to focus his attention on the Red Snare bandit camp, but was captured when his manipulation had been discovered. The heroes, along with the aid of the Ogre and the Gryffon Charles Hippo, subdued the remaining aggressors and took control of the camp.   Cro'Barrun, having been put under a strong illusion spell by Gino, disclosed to the heroes that his employer was none other than Kenton Araby, son of Stockton Araby and Knight Errant of the Royal Guard of Union. They were looking for a Dwarf in blue clothing that closely matched the description of Gildur. Their intentions if they found him remain unknown.   The heros addressed the other man captured by the Red Snare, who asked to be released but was denied his request before questions had been answered. He introduced himself as Vigdis, an unknown entity trying to cross the river but had been restrained by the red snare. The man, cautious about the information he could divulge, gave no quarter to the heroes, who decided to pickpocket him for his gold. Vigdis make a threat, saying that they would regret their actions and that "his people" would collect him and hand them a devastating blow for how they treated him. Thinking they could not risk his continued existence, they ended his life, along with the Red Snare leader Cro'Barrun.   After the removal of both entities, the bandit camp had been decimated. Gino disappeared as the events thereof unfolded, and the ogre finally got a tent big enough for him to fit in. Zanuriel cast detect magic on the considerable sum of gold coins taken from Vigdis, but discovered only too late that the coins were coated with a faint magical signature that was lost and indistinguishable from the rest of the coins in the purses to which they entered (Aeða's).   Azriel took the red pouch to return to the pirate who asked for it.   The heroes spoke to the sea elves and told them that the rogue ship was returning to Azarum, fulfilling their request. They were thanked, but no reward given.   Back at the pirate tavern, Zanuriel reunited with Amelia and they shared a quiet, intimate drink together, sharing pieces of their eventful day. Zanuriel invited Amelia to travel with the party, and Amelia agreed, pending a payment for her services as an armature repairwoman. An agreement was formed, and Amelia made a small gesture sharing that the arrangement wasn't entirely business. They danced to Aeða's beautiful melodies hanging in the air. Just before they said goodnight, Amelia took a tiny bite into Zanuriel's neck. Whether it was playful, affectionate, or something else entirely, is yet to be known.   Azriel gave the red pouch back to the pirate and received the key to the safe downstairs. He opened the safe in the basement to the the bartender's life savings, but chose to leave it where it was. He gave the key back to the bard bartender, who proceeded to impale the pirate's skull in as punishment for stealing from her. She gave him a scroll as thanks for revealing the theft.   Aeða, moved by such a strong action taken by the bartender, invited her to play together, and the two bards, in melodic Union, formed a brand new song that they would always share. The bard invited Aetha to continue their music making after the sun had gone down and closing time had left the tavern to themselves.   The party had discussions on their next move. After their training from Gildur was complete, they would head back to Union to follow up on the many leads they had accumulated since their escape from the county prison.   The heroes spoke with Teeka and Dip Dip before their day ended, being given a disguise kit as thanks for the help in saving Dip Dip's life.   Gibi and Bigi approached Aeða and Torentous, offering both of them a lone chickpea as thanks for their kindness and protection throughout the day. Aeða gave the owlbear cubs the rest of the chickpeas she found, and the cubs howled at the moon, revealing her mother's presence. The mother, named Tulia, reciprocated her thanks for keeping her children safe, and gave the heroes two halves of a thistle seed, a rare seed that has unknown significance to the owlbears. They will aid the heroes is the seed's two halves are ever reunited.   The heroes ended their day, knowing that their night's sleep would not be the same rest they had always experienced, for they were about to dive into the dream of Captain Fiona Wynn, and meet Gildur for their initiation training into his ancient order.   What happens on the other side of a dream?
