Driftriver Text Role-Play Guidelines

  1. You can also manually create your own breakpoints by enclosing text in triple grave accents. This is recommended if you'd like to specify components of a scene, or list if a scene is welcoming to others. For example you could start a new scene with:When starting a new scene please create a hard break point in the channel by using the "/br" command to force Avrae (a Discord bot) to insert a channel break. When ending a scene in a channel please also consider leaving a hard break point to let other players know the scene is over.   You can also manually create your own breakpoints by enclosing text in triple grave accents. This is recommended if you'd like to specify components of a scene, or list if a scene is welcoming to others. For example you could start a new scene with:   At a warehouse in Lahaina docks. Welcoming all.Or, if you are exiting a scene that others are continuing, you could close that scene just for yourself with:   Ecks Ample leaves the warehouse. Though the others carry on.
  2. Be courteous of ongoing scenes. If a scene has not been broken by one or more of the parties participating then consider locating your new scene in an inactive location. You can also check to see if the scene is accepting all comers. If a scene has not been active for a lengthy period of time (more than 18 hours) you can open a new scene in that channel. You can also message individuals in a channel if the scene has not been active within the last 18 hours to see if they plan on continuing.
  3. You can also message individuals in a channel if the scene has not been active within the last 18 hours to see if they plan on continuing. Close scenes which have lost their momentum. If a scene has slowed to a point where participation is no longer occurring for a lengthy period of time (more than 24 hours) then please consider closing the scene. Do not use infrequent messages or drag out an inactive scene for the purposes of squatting in a channel and preventing other scenes from developing. Where possible please avoid moving through multiple role-play channels unless the scene evolves in a way that requires it. Make sure you close any open scenes as your scene continues, and check to make sure your destination doesn't have active scenes. Open the scenes appropriately, and in the opening message please consider providing some context, such as:
  4. Coming from a warehouse in Lahaina docks and arriving at a diner in Octavia Walk, Ecks Ample sits at the counter to have a meal.     The generic role-play# channels can be used to set a scene in any location, including locations which already have a channel. Please use these channels in the case of any conflict or congestion in other channels. During events these channels may be assigned specific scenes for the duration of the event, so be mindful of any server events occuring!
Additionally, channels representing districts should be limited to scenes involving locations within the district and the surrounding area.   6. The recommended text format guide for role-play is as follows: Italics, as created by enclosing text in asterisks [*text*] in Discord: Emotes, narration, descriptive text. Quotes, as created enclosing text in quotes ["text"] in Discord: Quoted speech. Spoilers, as created by enclosing text in double pipes [||text||] in Discord: Speaking in an uncommon language. Parentheses, as created by enclosing text in parentheses [(text)] in Discord: Out of character communication.   7. Estate channels can be privately moderated and controlled by the estate owner. This means they can choose to set a permanent scene which excludes non-estate members, and remove messages which do not conform to their scene. Estates are not subject to any scene decay timers.
