Tarooq's Boat Emporium

This series of modest docks, sheds and outbuildings is dominated by a moderate sized, boxy office structure facing the road out of the Bantry from where it's located riverside, just west outside the Bantry's bounds.

Eighteen meters wide, four high, six deep, this structure's got an eccentric appearance to it, with a series of anchors, wave motifs and other seafaring imagery scattered across it's exterior in almost garish fashion. A large single door at the head of some weather-worn steps leads to the interior. Inside, the smell of briny air mixes with a subtler incense, to give a certain aroma that might be reminiscent of ship travel. A modest wooden desk sits with a stool behind it, a series of comfortable wooden rocking chairs arrayed for 'clients' to sit within nearby. The room is filled with ships in a bottle, some hanging from the rafters, others on various shelves around the room, and a particularly strange looking one, with wing-sails and a realistic dragon's head figurehead at it's bow in a place of honor over the fireplace.

Staffed by a series of dusky skinned fellows that mostly redirect folk to speak to Tarooq, they'll all seem to have names that end in some fashion with 'arooq', and be reluctant to speak more than needed to redirect a customer towards 'the boss'. Tarooq is a middling height, dusky skinned man with a friendly air, sea-green robes and turban, and a jovial attitude towards all of 'his friends' that come to buy or rent from him! Providing ship rental services for the adventurers of B.A.S.E. and shipping services besides, he'll offer fair, if expensive rates to provide river-bound transit in and out of Driftriver. This of course also being with provisions for the journey, and assurances of safe rest while upon any of his ships.

Should a party take Tarooq up on his services, it will always take at least one hour for a ship and crew to be prepared to leave, during which time the sailor 'cousins' procure supplies from The Bantry, load the ship, and make ready to sail. There always seems to be one Keelboat and one Sailing Ship available at any given time to ferry persons that hire these services.

Keelboat transportation is recommended for any traveling the river waterways around the Ashaba, but not entering the sea at any point. This can be had at a modest rate of 2 GP, per person, per day, with a premium of 5 GP per day of 'wait' required while a party is on site for whatever work they're doing. (Minimum one day). This price cannot be lower than this, however it can be presented higher if the party arrives at the emporium with any celestials, fiends or undead in their employ, as Tarooq will seem to have a certain aversion to doing any business with the party, doubling his prices in such a case.
(This can be negotiated back to 'normal' pricing with a successful DC 15/18/20 Charisma-Persuasion check [Tier 2/3/4 respectively], made by a non-fiend/celestial/undead member of the party as they provide assurances to their honest intentions.)

Sailing Ship transportation is recommended for any traveling the river towards the Sea of Fallen Stars, and will be making their way across any larger bodies of water connected to this system of waterways. This service comes at a greater expense given the larger crew required for this work, and the more provisions it then requires. These services come at a cost of 10 GP, per person, per day, with a premium of 50 GP per day of 'wait' required while a party is on site for any work they're doing. (Minimum one day.). This price cannot be lower than this, however it can be presented higher if the party arrives at the emporium with any celestials, fiends or undead in their employ, as Tarooq will seem to have a certain aversion to doing any business with the party, doubling his prices in such a case.

Finally, ship purchase and repairs can be had here for estates that would like to flavor their ship having been purchased or built here. Estate repairs are subjective to costs and duration determined by any DM that determines damage to an estate damaged in battle or otherwise. It can be assumed that Tarooq will be firm, but fair in pricing out repairs for an estate-ship, and is entirely non-negotiable for any ship purchase pricing.
