Ielhim
"Pain is not necessary."
The world was made ill by Thierrin's disruption. He was mortal and divine at once, and held wisdom and power beyond the limits of mortals. Taranis cast Ielhim from the heavens with the warning that Thierrin would make flow rivers of blood were he left to his wishes. The healing star of the north, Ielhim was swayed from his duty by the compassion Thierrin showed to mortals. Ielhim wandered the world with Thierrin, and came to love him so that he shielded Thierrin from the sword of Azariel with his own body. To those who would listen, he taught the arts of herbalism and healing. To the Cetoilais people, he taught forbidden celestial magic. Only through Laila's intervention was his star not snuffed from the heavens by Taranis. Ielheth lies in the northern ranges of Cetoile, where the gentle healer rested after his long travels. Cetoilais women must light a candle to Ielhim and pray to the healer if they wish to become pregnant. His children are often healers or apothecaries. Though he taught celestial magic to mortals, few have the ability to use it. A floral birthmark upon a newborn of Ielheth hints at the capacity to use this forbidden magic. Clergy of Ielhim are healers and counsellors. Ielhim is associated with healing, warmth, daffodils and butterflies.
Description
Most works of art show Ielhim as a tall, lean figure dressed in orange. Ielhim's face is depicted as eyeless and noseless. In some works, roots and leaves are shown beneath his skin. On the left side of his torso is a deep, weeping wound.Faith
Ielhim's faithful come together under the name the yellow cloth? blankie? something yellow. The clergy begin as wandering healers -- they heal in mundane ways, not magic. This is not due to a distrust or dislike of magic, but for the simple fact that the ability to use magic is rare, and these wanderers seek to teach others how to heal, not to simply ease pain. Ielhim's clergy usually travel in small groups on these pilgrimages, each group member specialising in certain branches of knowledge. In Ieleth's capital, the Weeping Sanctuary is home to the offices and quarters of prominent clergy and annexes a hospital. Many clerics of Ielhim serve as physicians and counsellors in Cetoilais cities. Clergy who seek less fame or quieter surrounds will often take up positions in rural hamlets. The Lord of Life, The Blind Healer
