Yudhelm
Geography
Yudhelm is a vast terrain of icy desolation and enduring tundra, known for its treacherous and inhospitable nature. The landscape of Yudhelm is characterized by expansive icy plains, dotted with glaciers and rugged peaks. To the east lies the icy sea, with its formidable cliffs and frozen bays. The region lacks free-flowing rivers, as they are mostly frozen and buried beneath layers of ice, creating intricate networks of subnivean passages.
Yudhelm is an unclaimed and unregulated territory within Eivrall, featuring a tundra biome renowned for its icy and desolate landscape. The bleak terrain is rugged and foreboding, marked by imposing ice formations that break the otherwise monotonous white wilderness. Permafrost, a thick layer of permanently frozen soil, covers the ground, posing significant challenges to cultivation and construction.
Situated in the northernmost reaches of Eivrall, Yudhelm is secluded and difficult to access. It is surrounded by towering snow-capped mountains that act as natural barriers, rendering entry and exit nearly impossible. The region's extreme cold and harsh weather conditions serve as deterrents to exploration and settlement. Yudhelm exists in a state of perpetual winter, with ferocious blizzards and life-threatening temperatures prevailing throughout the land.
Ecosystem
Yudhelm's ecosystem is characterized by its harsh and inhospitable conditions, making it challenging for most forms of life to survive. The flora is sparse, dominated by resilient mosses, lichens, and low-growing shrubs that can withstand the freezing temperatures. These hardy plants serve as the foundation of the simple but robust food chain in the region. Invertebrates, such as large ice worms, are adapted to the cold and form the basis of the food chain. Higher up the chain, predators like polar bears, seals, and occasionally Arctic foxes rely on this limited food supply to survive.
Legend tells of the mythical Erunit, supposedly the guardians of this land, but their existence remains wrapped in unconfirmed tales and speculation.
Yudhelm is characterized by punishingly freezing winters and brisk, cool summers. When winter sets in, terrestrial life hibernates or retreats, while marine life continues to thrive beneath the icy sea surface. The short summers witness an explosion of activity, with patches of vegetation coloring the land and migratory birds dotting the skies.
Localized Phenomena
An eerie phenomenon observed in Yudhelm is the so-called "Frost Call," a strange, melodic hum that resonates during the coldest nights, believed to originate from deep within the glaciers. It creates uncanny, sometimes haunting, soundscapes that add to Yudhelm’s sense of otherworldliness.
Yudhelm is known for its extreme weather conditions and fierce blizzards. These blizzards are not ordinary natural occurrences but are rumored to be connected to the mythical Erunit. According to legends, when the Erunit appear, blizzards follow in their wake, with winds howling and snowfall intensifying. The sound of their presence is said to be amplified by a mysterious temperature inversion, creating an eerie atmosphere of cold and isolation.
Climate
Yudhelm experiences a freezing and unforgiving climate throughout the year. The climate of Yudhelm is marked by unpredictability, with sudden temperature drops and violent snowstorms. The Yudhelm climate is freezing and harsh, with temperatures often dipping far below zero. The long, dark winters are characterized by freezing cold and relentless blizzards. Deadly winters see temperatures drop to -30°C, while in the short summer, the mercury barely reaches 10°C. The climate is remarkably stable, in line with its polar positioning. The brief summer months offer little respite, with temperatures still hovering around freezing. Snow dominates the landscape throughout the year, often accumulating up to several meters. Bone-chilling and harsh, the climate in Yudhelm verges on the extreme.

Ooo, the thought of the eerie hum makes me shiver a bit. I love it. I'm going to stay well away from Yudhelp, because I do not do well in the cold. You have a little contradiction where you say temps don't get above freezing in summer, but ten degrees is definitely above freezing (though still cold, yuck). I am aware this is nowhere near finished though.

Ahhh! Thank you for pointing that out! You'd think I'd learn not to keep multiple sets of notes in various places for one topic lol
