Bartholemew William Barclay Masterson (a.k.a. Bat Masterson)
Bartholemew William Barclay "Bat" Masterson was a U.S. Army scout, lawman, professional gambler, and journalist known for his exploits in the 19th-century American West. Masterson was the town marshal of Dodge City, Kansas, where he became friends with Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, and other icons of the American frontier. After his time as a lawman, he turned to professional gambling and later became a sports editor and columnist for the New York Morning Telegraph. His life has been the subject of numerous works of fiction and non-fiction, helping to create the legend of the Old West.
