Historic Fantasy
Jacques Necker
Jacques Necker was a Swiss banker who served as the Director-General of Finance of France under King Louis XVI. His attempts to reform the French monarchy's financial situation were significant in the years leading up to the French Revolution. Necker's most notable efforts included advocating for economic transparency and attempting to balance the royal budget. His dismissal in 1789 was one of the events that sparked the storming of the Bastille. Although his reforms were ultimately unsuccessful, Necker is remembered for his role in attempting to stave off fiscal crisis and for his influence on the early stages of the Revolution.
