Qanun (KAH-noon)

The Qanun is a plucked zither played in Middle Eastern, North African, and Turkish music traditions. It features a large trapezoidal board with strings stretched across it, played horizontally in front of the musician. The Qanun is known for its ability to produce intricate melodies and its role in traditional ensembles, adding depth and texture to the music.
