1775 June 03 – Versailles, France

Diary, June 3rd was a day dipped in gold and draped in royal intrigue. I found myself at the gates of Versailles, the kind of place where every corner screams luxury and every statue probably has a story to tell. The palace was a maze of extravagance, and I wandered through it, half-expecting to turn a corner and bump into a king or queen.

And bump into royalty I did! There he was, Louis XVI, the man of the hour, looking every bit the king with his regal attire and a crown that probably weighed more than my entire outfit. Louis was surrounded by a flock of courtiers, but there was something in his eyes that looked a bit... bored?

I managed to catch his attention with a bit of my Tak charm. We started chatting, and soon enough, it was like we were old pals. Louis opened up about the pressures of the crown, the whispers of revolution in the streets, and his not-so-secret love for intricate locks and clocks.

Our conversation was cut short by royal duties, but Louis sneakily suggested a secret rendezvous in the gardens later that evening. As night fell, I made my way through the shadows of Versailles' grand gardens to find Louis waiting, sans crown, looking more like a regular Joe than a king.

Under the cover of moonlit hedges, we talked about everything from the future of France to the latest gossip about courtly scandals. It was surreal, chatting with the King of France like he was just another guy, albeit one with a country on his shoulders.

As the night drew to a close, we parted ways with a newfound understanding and a nod to keeping our little garden meeting under wraps. I left Versailles with a head full of royal secrets and a diary entry waiting to be written.
