Hospitatlity
Hospitality within the empires of Nisumari was broken up between two types of services, inns and taverns. Inns offered places to rest for the night to travelers passing through the area. An inn typically only offered a place to rest and didn’t have drink or food available. The traveler would have to go to a tavern for those types of services. A tavern offers mostly food and drink but is also known to be establishments where patrons would gamble, sing, and even have more explicit services. Taverns are places where the locals go to relax after a hard day of work and where a traveler can get a warm meal and a relaxing drink.
Inn Services
Animal Stabling
This is used when wanting to keep your riding animal in a stable. They are cared for and fed by the stable hands. The price is a daily fee.
Four-Room Suite
There are three furnished bedrooms and a living area with comfortable beds and furniture. Staying in this suite gives you a +1 to recovering from fatigue.
Large Room
The room appears spacious and has a desk with a chair, a double bed, and a large chest.
Master Suite
One master bedroom, 4 adjacent bedrooms, a living room, washroom with wash tub, fireplace, and balcony. Completely furnished with high-quality furniture. Staying in this suite gives you a +2 to recovering from fatigue.
Medium Room
The room is spacious enough to hold a twin bed and a small chest.
One Room Suite
This room is luxurious, with a double feather bed, wardrobe, and desk with a chair. Staying in this suite gives you a +1 to recovering from fatigue.
Room Servant
Adds on a personal servant for your room, only available for suites. Cost reflects per servant requested.
Small Room
A room barely big enough for the straw bedding.
Stables
A sleeping area in the stables with the animals.
Three-Room Suite
The place is fully furnished with two bedrooms, a living area, and cozy furniture, like feathered beds and plush chairs. Staying in this suite gives you a +1 to recovering from fatigue.
Two-Room Suite
Separated bedroom and living area with feathered bed, wardrobe, desk with chair, and living room furniture. Staying in this suite gives you a +1 to recovering from fatigue.
Indefinite Stay
Unless you have purchased land and a house, staying indefinitely in a city requires renting a lodging such as an apartment. Rental properties can be found in the Rental section of Services section later in this catalog.
Tavern Services
This section of the catalog is for ordering meals and drinks from a tavern, restaurant, or other dining establishment. Purchasing food for travel can be found in the Catalog of Equipment under Drink & Food.
Beverages
Ale
An alcoholic beverage that is made from hops and other ingredients. It has either a golden or dark color.
Cider
An alcoholic beverage that is made from fruits, specifically apples. It has a color range from colorless to amber to brown.
Mead
An alcoholic beverage like ale but made with honey and has a golden color.
Ale/Cider/Mead, Pitcher
A wooden or clay pitcher filled with either ale or mead that can fill ten tankards.
Succubus Sweat
If you drink this strong sweet ale, your movements will slow down and you will eventually become paralyzed. You cannot move as soon as you become drunk. Although you won't be able to move, the drink provides a peaceful feeling. Succubus sweat doubles the fatigue restoring properties alcohol normally provides during a full rest.
Hard Liquor
Each type of liquor is sold by the shot. You can buy bottles from a general store instead of a restaurant and the price is listed in the Catalog of Equipment under Drinks & Food.
Metalshine
A clear grain alcohol with a strong unpleasant odor. It causes a strong burning feeling in the throat when consumed. This hard liquor is so strong it has a potency of three instead of the standard two hard liquors have.
Rum
It’s the drink of the pirate! A hard liquor made from distilled sugarcane products.
Sata
A hard liquor made from fermented rice.
Voda
A hard liquor made from distilled potatoes.
Whisky
A hard liquor made from distilled grains.
Non-Alcoholic Beverages
Non-alcoholic beverages are served in tankards or cups.
Cider
Cider can be ordered as a non-alcoholic beverage which tastes sweeter and contains bits of pulp.
Coffee
A hot, black, watery, bitter drink that helps you wake up in the morning. Often sugar and cream are added to enhance the flavor.
Hot Chocolate
Chocolate is ground into a powder and added to either warm milk or water. When mixed, you get a warm chocolaty and comforting beverage. Often a heavy sweet cream is added as a topping.
Tea
Dried leaves soaked in hot water of many different varieties from green to black teas and many in between. Drinking tea straight has a bitter taste but sugar or honey is often added as a sweetener.
Wine
A sweet wine made from fermented egg berries found on the egg bush. The longer the berries are fermented, the higher the quality the wine becomes. The wine has a milky red color. Common wine has only been aged for a few years, while fine wine has been aged for at least ten years.
Common Egg Wine, Pitcher
A wooden or clay pitcher that holds ten goblets of wine.
Fine Egg Wine, Bottle
A glass bottle that holds enough wine for four goblets.
Meals
Beef Stew
A mix of beef, potatoes, vegetables, and broth, typically cooked in large portions and served in taverns for travelers.
Chicken a la King
A dish consisting of diced chicken in a cream sauce, and often with mushrooms and vegetables, served over rice, or bread.
Eggs and Bacon
Two chicken eggs with three strips of thick bacon; pan fried together.
Hot Shell Snake
Four Shell snake served on a plate. Heated in a fire until popped. They have a bitter, semi-sweet taste. Hot shell snakes are a common dish in the Underkin culture.
Mutton Leg
A chunk of very low-quality meat attached to the bone.
Mutton Stew
A mixture of different scraps of food put into a stew. It is not delicious but filling. This stew is typically eaten as soon as it is done cooking.
Pan Fried Fish
A local type of fish filleted and pan fried. Served with some bread and pottage peas.
Potato Soup
Diced potatoes cooked in a vegetable broth. A very simple meal that easily makes you feel full is not very satisfying.
Pottage Peas
Peas cooked in a clay pot with water. The peas become mashed together, caused from the heat and stirring, to form a kind of thick chunky paste. This is typically served as a side dish.
Shepherd’s Pie
Meat pie with mashed potatoes as the crust. A common meal for commoners, but also served as a regular meal in taverns.
Steamed Hog
A delicacy in the frozen south. This steamed pork dish is shredded pork meat smothered in a tangy sweet sauce and served with bread on the side.
Traveler’s Pie
A flour and water crust with meat or vegetable filling that is slightly dry. The crust is normally discarded after the filling has been eaten. One pie is enough for a single meal for one person.
Specialty Bread
A special type of bread that has special ingredients baked in the bread. This bread comes in many flavors, from full meals to desserts.
Meat Breads
Meat breads come in different varieties from beef, chicken, pork or venison. The meat is slowly cooked and shredded before it is mixed into the dough and cooked. These breads make for easy on the go meals and one loaf can last one person one day's worth of meals. They don’t stay as fresh as if rations do but taste a lot better.
Pudding Bread
A noble dessert that is often brought by guests to parties. Two breads are brought to the party, one fake and one real. The real one has crispy flaky sweet crust and is filled with chocolate pudding. The fake one has the same crispy flaky sweet crust but is filled with ink and is presented as a joke to the host of the party. When the fake one is cut into, everyone has a laugh and the real bread is presented. Regardless of how many times nobles pull this prank, they still find it amusing.
Sweet Roll
A sugary bun that is sweet and delicious. Often has a glaze coating it and is rolled with cinnamon.
Veggie & Meat Bread
A dinner bread is cram packed with veggies and meat. They provide a well-balanced meal while on the go. The meat is typically being beef, chicken or pork cooked the same way as meat bread. One loaf can feed one person for two days.
