The Warrens

Greasy, loud and dank, the Warrens are the unashamed muscles that animate the Lords Redoubt. The sprawling district is characterised by its particularly densely packed houses, and preponderance of subterranean complexes that have developed as buildings hit the maximum free height. These houses, with their suspiciously open plans and huge basements serve as an uninterrupted path to almost anywhere in the city. Along these channels stream rumours, fugitives and other unofficial business- away from the prying eyes of the Lords Watch. Inhabiting these complexes are most commonly working class and lower middle class citizens to whom a proper home is a too large investment, but still require a base. As such, all kinds of beings can be found in The Warrens, whether they be petty thieves, small-time business owners or clerks. However, the side-effect of this melting pot composition is that informants are also common, as well as guild recruiters and press gangs, all ready to prey on those less fortunate than themselves. As a result, while The Warrens are open to all, they contain hundreds of smaller nuclear communities which look out for each other.
