Number Inversion
Discovery
The discovery of number inversion was mostly an accident. A desperate dark sorcerer was attempting to, not invert their number, but to purge magic from their body entirely in hopes of avoiding execution and living a normal life. They enlisted the help of a friend gifted in light magic and asked them to purify the magic as it was extracted from the body manually. With the reluctant agreement of their friend, they made a long, deep slash in their arm and begun letting the magic fall into a metal bowl. As it filled, their friend proceeded to extract and purify the magic, leaving raw light magic in its place. As the bowl filled, the friend saw their friend on the verge of passing out from blood loss and did the only thing that they could think of: they used their abilities in Lightspinning to force the light back into the dark sorcerer's body. They nearly destroyed their friend outright.Complexity
The overall concept is relatively simple and straightforward: remove the unwanted magic and replace it with the desired type of magic. However, because of Estyans relying on magic as they do blood, the more powerful the sorcerer, the more difficult the process. A Blood Number is slowly shifted towards the desired result during inversion, but the most dangerous part is between -1 and +1, where the risk of death is highest. This is often due to blood loss-- especially for powerful sorcerers-- or due to the dark and light magic attempting to annhailate each other. It takes a very steady hand from the one performing the inversion and an iron will from the one being inverted in order to accomplish this feat. The Shadi Order has amassed a group of sufficiently powerful light sorcerers willing to partake in number inversion for a fee. The only variable remaining is whether the one desiring inversion can withstand the process.Sensitive Content
