The Kolvat Empire Settlement in Ethrun | World Anvil

The Kolvat Empire

The Kolvat Empire is one of the few centers of magic that exists in Urdic. In their past they sought to expand dramatically via dominating those they deemed inferior. However, since their domination of the Ta'jie people they've ceased expansion not venturing far outside the valley the Ta' jie use to inhabit.

Demographics

Population

The Kolvat Empire boasts the highest population density as the territory isn't all that large. 82% of The Kolvati population is Elven as a result of their incredibly nationalistic culture, but there does exist a small human and gnomish population. Hybrids also exist here but solely in the capacity of slaves for societies wealthier members. There is a high wealth disparity between Nobility and lower classes, but the lower classes do still live nice lives as the country experiences a relatively low standard of living, which they can afford because nearly all of the countries resources are domestically produced. The quality of life is further bolstered by the current ruler, Queen Moroava, who refuses to allow anyone to go homeless. She believes everyone who contributes to society should be able to afford comfortable living and she doesn't believe that a single person shouldn't be contributing to society in some way. As a result the Empire only experiences a 3% unemployment rate which is often times comprised of individuals who are transitioning between jobs. The Kolvat Empire's population is at a steady Plateau as it's people are only allowed to have one child per couple. This was a decree issued by the previous ruler and unchanged by the current. Reason being that the population's density is already so high and this is a means of making sure the country is still capable of supporting all.

Demographics By Province

As opposed to separation by province the Kolvat Empire instead separates by districts. There is the farming district which exists as a ring around the further most reaches of the empire. Then there is Common district, the second furthest ring of society, this is the residential area for the common folk of the empire. The next ring is the Market District which also houses the fishing district. They both live between the Common and Noble district so it is often a true mingle of class here. The Noble District is next and where all the Nobles establish their residence and at the very center of it all is the Royal estate where the Kolvat family has lived for several hundreds of years now.

Religion

The Kolvati worship a singular elven god who they believe created them as the worlds most perfect beings. As a result the Kolvati believe that anything that isn't even is inferior [More to be added later]

Government

The Kolvat Empire is ran by the ever loved, highly praised Queen Moroava of the Kolvat line. She is the first and only legitimate child of her father King Santamar, The Demigod King. The throne can only be taken by someone from the Kolvat bloodline. Anyone who has ever tried to violate this rule has always been dealt with both publicly and brutally. They are a wise and well guarded family.

Political Divisions:

There are no political divisions the Monarch holds all the power and runs completely unopposed as the people both respect and fear the Kolvat line.

Transfer of Power

Very simply power transfers from on Kolvat to the next. The wielder of the throne is often the oldest child of their predecessor, unless it comes to pass that they are infertile with no children then they are typically replaced by the next child.

Foreign Relations

The Kolvat Empire prides itself on being completely self sufficient. They communicate with very few preferring to remaining isolated in their valley.

Military

All Kolvati from a very young age are trained in weaponry and combat. This means that everyone in the country is ready to be a member of an instant army if necessary. Those who show exception promise though are typically brought into the ranks of a special program. This program focuses on rune craft, or the condensing of rituals into seals for limited time uses. These individuals are known as Rune Warriors and are masters of weaving their specialized runes seamlessly into their combat. However, the army is hardly put to use and Rune Warriors often serve to only protect the queen as the kingdom is very well protected by the Tal' jicie lands which surround them.

Defences

The Kolvat Empire does not require defense in the form of walls as it is protected by the The Taji'cies even if it may not be to fond of their existence.

Industry & Trade

Income, Wealth, and Poverty

No one here lives in poverty, everyone under the Kolvati sun is required to receive education and required to eventually work. That being said nobles do control far more capital than those below them, but because of the low standard of living everyone live a pretty nice life.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure includes banks, aqueducts, bath houses, sewers, courtyards, apartments, towers, churches, roads, etc.

Transportation

The Kolvati, as a result of their isolation and reliance on magic, have not developed any advanced modes of transportation. They have basic roads but these roads are traversed by foot and animal back.

Energy

Everything in this empire is either run via hydro power or specialized runes that slowly release kinetic energy. These runes have the potential to be incredibly dangerous as if they are improperly handled it is possibly for all their kinetic energy to be released at once resulting in a potential catastrophic explosion depending on how much kinetic energy is left in the seal. These seals are replaced on a near weekly basis but teams in charge of changing these seals randomize the dates of seal replacement to make sure that as few people as possible know when these kinetic seals are at their max potential.

Water Supply and Sanitation

Aquaduct Perhaps on of the Kalvati's most impressive advancements is their magic run aquaducts. These aqueducts also use a type of kinetic rune, but these kinetic runes, known as Vector Runes, are specially designed to propel anything that comes in contact with them in a specific direction, because of this the Kolvati people are capable of running water uphill and across horizontal planes.   Rain Because of their geographic location the Kolvat Empire experiences little rain, but manages to sustain plant growth through runes that collect moisture from the air and release it as localized rain.   Sanitation The Kolvati also have sanitation runes used to kill any trace of bacteria in their water supply. As a result of this many Kolvati are typically less resistant to disease, but this is hardly an issue as very few happen to travel outside of the countries boarders.

Assets

Education

The Kolvati education trains its children to be warriors from a very young age. As a result of this the Kolvati have come to value strength and cunning as a people. However, The Kolvati also value intelligence as their education is incredibly well rounded for its first half choosing to specialize into specific fields and career paths during its second half. Because of an elf's incredibly long life span they take their time with their education. During an elf's first five or so years they are heavily drilled with information, but typically after beginning their combat training elves education mellows out and becomes a slower drip of information over time for the remaining 10-15 years depending on how long an elf chooses to stay in primary. After an elf specializes an elf's educational load becomes just a tad more intense, but isn't always taken too seriously as it is often seen as a primer for apprenticeship which an elf will typically hold for another 10-25 years.

History

Expanded into the territory during their early history as a means of eliminating the dragons in the area (which they perceive as evil) they also percieve the Taji'cie as savages. [More to be added later]

Geography

The Empire exists within a sprawling valley, between the five points of The Taji'cies. As a result they don't experience much rain, but because of their use of runes they are still able to grow and fertilize crops.
