A home for children

The Oak's Heart Orphanage in the town of Oldcastle has gone through several iterations in the thousand years it has existed. It began as a boarding house for casual labourers during a large period of construction in the town, and then transitioned slowly to an orphanage as the labourers moved on. In the 4820s, it was used as a sick house and then a morgue during the decade of the great plague, and then was left empty for a time before mysteriously burning down towards the end of the 49th century. It was rebuilt in the early 5000s and again became an orphanage, this time run by priests of Faolan, the Monarch of Earth.   Its current iteration is built of red clay brick and is comprised of two floors and an attic space. The ground floor contains classrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, and rooms for the staff, whilst the first floor and attic are used as dormitories for the children. It currently houses thirty nine children between the ages of nought to sixteen. There is a large oak tree in the grounds that is said to have been there since before the town's founding.
