Viretia

The isolated continent

In terms of population size, Viretia is rather small compared to most other continents on Etrea, with only around ten million people calling it home. It has been isolated from the rest of the world for much of its history, with most of its coastlines being hostile to ships, with high cliffs, sharp reefs, and rough seas. Around a century ago, an earthquake opened up a path in the Sea of Gold, leading to the establishment of tentative trading routes.   Internally, Viretia can prove just as hostile. Its large grasslands are prone to tornadoes, leading to many of their inhabitants building their structures underground. There is also a rainforest thick with poisonous plants and venomous creatures, and thick temperate forests that are notorious for their predators. Viretia also hosts two deserts, one that is dangerously hot and mostly void of life, the other prone to violent sandstorms.
