The Shakrim are well known for piracy around the shining sea, though if you ask any of the captains that ply their trade there are a few that are more notorious than others, mostly for their wanton destruction and wily disposition. Ahassar Dalasak is one of those.
Ahassar is less of pirate captain and more of a pirate king, if the Shakrim had any such thing. Loathing of anything that would detract from the natural freedom granted to them by the Great Shakkamal, the hordes of Shakrim that fight for Ahassar nonetheless give him their allegiance and very often their lives.
Like many other Shakrim, Ahassar longed to leave the confines of the Isles and found his chance aboard a small boat of like-minded Shakrim who wanted to do their part to defend their Island home by attacking and looting any foreign boat that strayed close to their shores (or too far away from their own shores).
The nautical life agreed with Ahassar, whose strong shell and arm found use on any crew he shipped out with. While slow on the move, his mind was very agile; on more than one occasion his quick thinking saved his crew and doomed the enemies.
His natural strength and tactical mind quickly won him a following and before he knew it Ahassar was leading crews on anything that he could find that would float. As Ahassar and his crew began attacking boats, they would always “commandeer” those ships that were faster and more to their purpose. The captaincy of the older boat would pass to the next best warrior and pirate until Ahassar found himself the head of not just a boat but a small fleet of nimble pirate craft.
Ahassar found a small rock of an island north of the main Shakrim Islands from which to strike. Summer storms coming off the northern continent blew him work constantly until his fleet of small makeshift craft were almost a household sight off the shipping lanes in the Shining Sea.
As time passed and the kingdoms of Faelon adapt to Ahassar’s tactics he has decided to switch them up, now preferring to strike at ports and small outposts around the Shining Sea. Ahassar employs freebands, especially those with their own ships, when his rag-tag group of barely floating boats isn’t enough to get a job done.
