Forester
The Foresters of Falkaar are some of the most experienced and versatile warriors in the King’s service. They are recruited from among the best and brightest and undergo a rigorous apprenticeship. They are charged with hunting Demons of Karelon that make their way into the realm through the ancient cracks in Between found in the great forests of Arlian and Florion. Capable hunters as well as fighters, the Foresters are trained to make exceptional use of the Witchsight granted them through their bond with a witchcat they raise from birth. They are often found working as part of a freeband that operates in those areas or is known to take on demon-hunting warrants.

Although the nobility tries to keep it from the minds of the lower classes, it’s undeniable that things cross over from Karelon into Faelon. The ancient forest of the Florion and the rolling wooded hills of the Arlian possess primeval links to Karelon and the boundaries between the two worlds are thinnest among their branches and in their meadows. Long ago the King formed a specialized group of men and women to patrol these uninhabited lands and trained them to hunt down Azal who have crossed over and to either send them back or kill them.
Foresters are more than just expert trackers. They are trained to survive alone for long periods of time in the wilderness. They are deadly archers, wielding the famed Falkaaran longbow with lethal precision. For those Azal a longbow cannot threaten, a Forester must approach carefully to capture or kill them before they can vanish and so are masters of stealth and camouflage. More than one lost traveler has cried out in surprise as a previously unseen Forester emerged from the mists of the Arlian to set the disoriented back on a path to safety. What makes a Forester unique, however, is his bond. When they apprentice, they are bonded to a Witchcat. Witchcats are a type of Drameol – half demon and half animal – panther-like creatures who can see into the Spirit World. Witchcat companions help their foresters find Azal and attack them even when those denizens of another world are concealed in Between.
The Fakaaran royals send Foresters off on detached duty on a fairly routine basis. While the Florion and Arlian need to be constantly watched for Azal crossing over, there are many more weaknesses in Between. Foresters can be found in Falkaaran Freebands wherever demons need to be hunted and encouraged to return to their own world…or die.
