Jalaba Anizar - Traazorite
Jalaba Anizar
By his diminutive stature and slight build, few would guess the kind of drive behind Jalaba Anizar. Jalaba is one of the most educated and successful people in all of Faelon. His thirst for knowledge and truth has dictated his entire life and led to the position and power he now holds: a member of the Traazor Council of Scholarly Academies.
In Traazor everything is controlled by Runah and through him the Emperor. The Emperor, though, has created a bureaucracy to control the many facets of life, culture, and business in Traazor. One of these many bureaucracies is the Council of Scholarly Academies, a body that oversees the places of higher learning in Traazor. Essentially the Council determines courses of study, admittance into the Nine Universities, and cultural life at the Universities.
The council is staffed by those in political favor; usually the rich, powerful, and socially affluent. Posts on the Council for Scholarly Academies go to well-educated, successful individuals loyal to Runah and to the Emperor. While these posts are political they serve an incredible purpose, if done correctly and without corruption have a wonderful effect on the cultural life of Traazor. In 1008 the Council's members are Jalaba Anizar, Fehrdeen Jamza, and Kerhir Kamshun. All are rich and affluent, being very successful in their other endeavors in life.
Jalaba Anizar, while being a political appointee, takes his post on the Council of Scholarly Academies very seriously. Jalaba has always thirsted for knowledge. Since a small boy, he has spent his time voraciously reading and investigating everything that he can. His natural curiosity and above-average intelligence led him into a life of academia, which he has excelled at.
Jalaba was a participant in the first scholarly exchange between Falkaar and Traazor. While lecturing at the University of Tarenna, he became obsessed with the lore of the Northern Continent. Though returned from his sojourn in Falkaar, he now pays very good money to any who can feed his obsession with lore. His drive, as well as his connections, led him to a posting on the Council of Scholarly Academies, where he lectures on a guest circuit about Northern Continent lore, all the while visiting others with his peculiar tastes.
Jalaba’s obsession with Northern Continent lore and his expanding collection has also attracted the attention of the archivists, a secret group of people set on the collection and preservation of information and truth. They recruited him some time ago and he now sits on their high council as well, although some of the other council members distrust his motives.
Whatever his motives may be, he is very good at collecting information, relics, and lore. He employs Freebands to do most of his work. For the toughest and most dangerous jobs, he sends his own personal Freeband; a group of very experienced hand-picked fighters and thieves that are loyal to him only. This group calls itself the Dawncall and is made up exclusively of Traazorites.
