Tanori Asayu - Mershael

It has been nearly ten years since Tanori Asayu assumed full control of House Aybashu. Before that time her husband Matar and her led the house together, but that happiness was crushed for her when a Traazorite ship boarded Matar’s ship and killed the crew, claiming it had attacked them.   What happened that day remains a mystery to all but the Traazorite ship and its crew, but lives constantly in the imagination and memory of Tanori, who struggles to guide House Aybashu through the intrigue of Mershael court politics and the increasingly hostile geopolitical situation on the southern continent between the Traazorites and the Mershael.   House Aybashu has never been a powerhouse of politics but has always commanded the respect of the other houses for their loyalty, honesty, and hard work on behalf of the immigrant Mershael people. Tanori wishes to stay true to this reputation, but struggles between her call to duty and tradition and her driving need to avenge the death of her husband. This duality has led her to change the very heart of House Aybashu, directing scarce house resources into ventures to destabilize the Traazorite Empire.   Her efforts have attracted the attention of King Kurgonn, whose aggressive military policies worry some of the major houses whose stability and wealth relies on peaceful trade with the Traazorites. Kurgonn has the ear of Tanori and has been funneling funds from the treasury into House Aybashu to assist in her destabilization efforts.   Among these efforts is a steady stream of supplies to the Eclipse. Tanori sees these rebels as friends to the Mershael, even though she can not take this stance publicly. Currently, weapons, money, personnel, and material aid is flowing from the coffers of House Aybashu to Tehradim where it is transferred to Eclipse operatives there.   House Aybashu is also hiring any freeblades willing to take on the Traazorite Empire in any capacity, whether it be treasure hunting in one of their captured provinces or just raiding their coastal cities and military installations. This is dangerous work but the compensation for these incursions into the Empire is worth it.
