The Archivists are an organization who seek to protect truth through the rigorous cataloguing of facts. There is an archivist in almost every city of note throughout Faelon, and Zihlsah is no different.
The Archivists are a secretive lot, and only reveal themselves and their collected knowledge when events lie at a great precipice where truth could sway these events for the good of all. They believe that truth is distorted over time by nefarious rulers and leaders. The Archivists find a sacred calling in being impartial collectors and cataloguers of facts and therefore truth.
In Zihlsah, the gathering of facts and information falls to Vihtyoon Mirov, a tavern and innkeeper on the edge of Zihlsah’s bustling and sometimes rowdy Wood Union district.
Vihtyoon’s Inn, The Sawdust Pile, has an earnest reputation for comfortable beds, high quality ale, and the best traveling entertainers in the area. This reputation attracts high society types as well as the common worker looking to relax after a hard day’s work.
By securing her reputation she has also secured a steady stream of gossip and information that collects in the greatroom of her Inn. Vihtyoon sifts this information and sends her network of informants and confidants to ascertain truths which Vihtyoon then records for the Archivists.
Presently, rumors have begun to swirl about the renewed interest in The Deep Dark. Vihtyoon listens to these whispers with great interest. Many years ago Vihtyoon bankrolled a small group of adventurers to enter The Deep Dark. She saw them as far as the ruins of The Fortress of Last Daylight and bid them luck on their journey. It was the last she heard or saw of them.
Since that debacle Vihtyoon has waited patiently for another opportunity to ascertain any truths that the long abandoned tunnel and adjoining caves may hold. She is eager to add it to the vast collection of knowledge which hides in the cellar of her inn.
