The hydromatic is an all-purpose cleaning machine, designed to save time by using Hydromancy Rune Magic to perform cleaning operations on the items placed inside. All but the simplest of variants include multiple settings for a variety of cleaning methods dependent upon the item and its handling requirements.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The hydromatic relies upon Hydromancy to power its various cleaning settings. Items to be cleaned are placed inside, with optional trays to support more breakable items. The user then adds the appropriate soap and selects the preferred washing settings for their selected items.   The machines contain an assortment of settings and are highly configurable to clean anything from clothing to dishes, although it is not recommended to wash different classifications of items at the same time. Most can be configured to wash any item that can fit inside, provided it can be washed safely with soap and water. More deluxe varieties also include dry cleaning options with advanced Anemancy settings. Most also include basic Pyromancy controls to allow for the use of heat when washing.   Regular maintenance is important to ensure the machine is operating correctly. The runes directing each setting must be recharged at regular intervals, and the runes themselves checked against the manufacturer's specifications to catch and correct damage due to wear and tear. The original equipment manufacturers typically recommends owners return to their point of purchase for this maintenance, but in all but the fanciest models a handyman is more than capable of performing the necessary work.

Rarity
Hydromatics are not particularly rare, but they can be expensive to purchase and maintain. They are most commonly found in communal settings where individuals can rent usage time or pool their funds together for purchase, although they are not uncommon in wealthier households.

CAUTION

Do not place living creatures or animate objects inside hydromatic. Manufacturer is not responsible for damage done to creatures, objects, or the hydromatic due to incorrect usage.

Ok, so that was a really fun read, but... how does it actually look like? Because all I can picture is a washing machine xD

Some sort of washing machine / dishwasher combo I figure, haha. Likely front loaded, because dishes. With lots of dials.

It was fun to read! :D I'd love to see more of it, like troubleshooting or cases where something went wrong and dirty magical artifacts where washed which should not be placed, like metallic parts in the microwave.   What happens if a rune mage buys one and tries to tune up the runes? :D

Haha, there probably is some room for amusing stories with this, now that you mention it. My brother once put an entire remote controlled car in the microwave because he drove it through a puddle and wanted to dry it off... Definitely some room for tales of misuse.   Regarding the rune mage ,that's part of what they do. I have a stub on the Handyman profession I intend to write sometime. Of course there are also the eccentric inventors, whoale th do things they aren't supposed to... Like my next door neighbor when I was growing up, always welding something in his driveway, turned an old Corvette into a lawnmower and added some awesome mechanical handicap accessible features to his split level house to help his wheelchair-bound wife. He'd probably turn a hydromatic into a wind tunnel or a jet engine or an ice cream maker or something.

This is a great idea to have magic for that :D Laundry has always been an extremely difficult, tiring and time consuming thing to do without washing machine that someone is bound to have thought of it :D
