Having taken control of the government, Seluku turns on the group that helped him get there and has them all rounded up and executed over the ensuing weeks.

The purge began only days after Seluku took over. Although Seluku had worked alongside The Society in order to gain power, he immediately cut ties with the organization and denied any connection to them once he stepped in to take control of the kingdom after the Red Day.   Seluku cut his hair short to show his deep remorse for the deaths of the Gell family, and promised to round up and execute all responsible. This action won over the populace, the majority of whom supported the Gell Dynasty or at least saw the Society as terrorists.   The purge lasted one bloody month. Any member caught was liable to be tortured into revealing more names or hideouts. All executions were public, which helped cement the dominance of the new Manitushu government.
