Aasimar

Aasimar bear within their souls the light of the heavens. They are descended from humans with a touch of the power of the divine. Aasimar are born to serve as champions of the gods, their births hailed as blessed events. They are a people of otherworldly visages, with luminous features that reveal their celestial heritage. While most aasimar are born as such, there are cases of gods bestowing great blessing upon their champions and exalting them to the form of an aasimar, as Behomet did with his champion the Platinum Angel. Most people view aasimar as a gift from the gods of Mount Celestia, the divine realm of many good deities, and expect guidance and heroism from them. However, the touch of a god of any alignment can create aasimar. Evil gods and their aasimar often take advantage of the perceptions of the public to further their schemes and plans.
An aasimar has a link to an immortal servant of their deity. That being provides guidance to the aasimar, though this connection functions only in dreams. As such, the guidance is not a direct command or a simple spoken word. Instead, the aasimar receives visions, prophecies, and feelings.
Protector Aasimar
Protector aasimar are charged with the powers of their god to guard the weak, strike the enemies of their deity wherever they arise, and stand vigilant against the forces that would see harm done to those they care for. From a young age, a protector aasimar receives advice and directives that urge to stand against their god’s enemies.
Scourge Aasimar
Scourge aasimar are imbued with a divine energy that blazes intensely within them. It feeds a powerful desire to destroy those that oppose their god - a desire that is, at best, unflinching and, at its worst, all-consuming. Many scourge aasimar wear masks to block out the world and focus on containing this power, unmasking themselves only in battle.
Fallen Aasimar
An aasimar who has fallen from the favor of their god, or perhaps never had it, can become one of the fallen - a group of aasimar whose inner light has been extinguished and filled with shadow.
