Autognome

Autognomes are new to the world of Foralli, first appearing on Ibora about 50 years ago. Originally built by the famed and eccentric gnomish artificer Rimmple Knucklestamp to be lab assistants and servants for hire, many have undergone something autognomes call The Eureka. The Eureka seems to occur at random, and some autognomes may never experience it. When it occurs, an autognome gains a new level of sentience. Some enlightened autognomes remain in the service of their prior masters willingly, while others decide to travel as an equal with those that it was serving, and still others strike out on their own. Each autognome has their own feelings regarding their prior existence as a robotic servant and tool, and their reactions to the Eureka are as varied as their internal components and manufacture; one autognome might have an actual beating heart in its chest cavity, while another might be powered by stardust or intricate clockwork gears.
