Dragonborn

Born of dragons, as their name proclaims, the dragonborn walk proudly through a world that greets them with fearful incomprehension. Shaped by draconic gods or the dragons themselves, dragonborn originally hatched from dragon eggs as a unique race, combining the best attributes of dragons and humanoids. Dragonborn look very much like dragons standing erect in humanoid form, though they lack wings, and some lack tails. Those without tails tend to be larger and stronger than their tailed brethren, who tend to be more magically inclined. While these slight differences are present, most dragonborn do not discriminate between the two and many dragonborn clans contain both those with and without tails.
The more common ways that dragonborn clans distinguish between each other is the type of dragon that another dragonborn descended from.
Dragonborn with metallic ancestry lay claim to the tenacity of metallic dragons. Theirs is the fire of heath and forge, the cold of high mountain air, the spark of inspiration, and the scourging touch of acid that purifies. Dragonborn with chromatic ancestry claim the raw elemental power of the chromatic dragons. Theirs is the raw elemental fury of the volcano, the biting arctic winds, and of raging lightning storms, as well as the subtle whisper of swamp and forest, toxic and corrosive. Gem dragonborn partake in the heritage of the rare and elusive gem dragons, with floating horn bits and shimmering scales. Theirs are the wonders of the mind, the force of will, the brilliant light of insight, and the resounding echo of discovery - but also the desiccation of despair.
