Tiefling

Tieflings are the result of ancestors coming into close contact with the denizens of the Nine Hells. Legend says that the first of the tieflings originated from a pact struck during the Age of Thauma with Asmodeus, God of Desire and overlord of the Nine Hells, which infused the infernal essence into their bloodline. Tieflings can be the result of many different encounters with the infernal, be it direct parentage, a pact made by a member of their bloodline with a devil of sufficient power, or any other situation that has infused their lineage with the touch of the Hells.
How tieflings are perceived by those around them can vary wildly. On Ibora, tiefling are widely accepted as most people grew up alongside tieflings, and the fight against the fey brought tiefling soldiers, merchants, and entertainers to even the most rural and isolated regions of the continent. On Commuset, tiefling are a common facet of the population, and are treated as such. On Gisrax and in the Underdark of Dunesiff, and in parts of Owana, where tiefling are less common and folks tend to be wary of strangers, a tiefling’s fiendish nature is more likely to cause mistrust.
Tiefling have large horns that take on a variety of shapes, and long, thick tails. Their eyes are solid colors - black, red, white, silver, or gold - with no visible sclera or pupil. Tieflings have a wide array of skin tones, from the full range of human coloration, to deep crimson, to vibrant shades of purple, blue, green, and even yellow and pink. It’s not known what causes these variations, as even tiefling parents with the same skin tone can have children of wildly different colors, though depending on the Lord of Hell the tiefling’s lineage is most closely tied too, some skin tones appear more frequently.

Tiefling (Asmodeus) Tieflings tied to Nessus have an innate connection to the power of fire and darkness, benefits linked to Asmodeus himself. Such tiefling are more commonly shades of red.
Tiefling (Baalzebul) The crumbling realm of Maladomini is ruled by Baalzebul, who excels at corrupting those whose minor sins can be transformed into acts of damnation. Tieflings linked to this archdevil gain some of his corrupting influence, and are often a shade of green.
Tiefling (Dispater) The great city of Dis occupies most of Hell’s second layer. It is a place where secrets are uncovered and shared with the highest bidder, making tieflings tied to Dispater have a tendency toward curiosity highly sought after by those employing spies and infiltrators. Tieflings or this lineage are more often purple in hue than those more closely tied to other archdevils.
Tiefling (Fierna) A master manipulator, it is said Fierna grants tieflings tied to her a forceful personality. Tiefling of this bloodline are more commonly pink.
Tiefling (Glaysya) Glasya, Hell’s criminal mastermind, is said to grant her tieflings magic that is useful for committing heists, though whether the tieflings use this magic for such a purpose is up to them. Tieflings tied to Glasya are more frequently shades of dark blue.
Tiefling (Levistus) Frozen Stygia is ruled by Levistus, an archdevil known for offering bargains to those who face an inescapable doom. Tiefling in his lineage tend to be shades of icy blue or pale white, and have an innate connection to the frigid powers of the archdevil.
Tiefling (Mammon) The great miser Mammon loves coins above all else. Tiefling tied to him are often expected to become merchants or thieves due to their innate talent for gathering and safeguarding wealth. Tieflings of Mammon are more often shades of yellow.
Tiefling (Mephistopheles) In the frozen realm of Cania, Mephistopheles offers arcane power to those who entreat with him. Tieflings who are linked to him show some innate prowess for arcane magic. Tieflings of this lineage are more commonly shades of orange.
Tiefling (Zariel) Tieflings with a blood tie to Zariel tend to be stronger than the typical tiefling and receive magical abilities that can aid them in battle. Tieflings of this bloodline are more often shades of gray.
