While camp is getting ready to set out for the day, Achreny offers to buy one of the horses belonging to Ben or Chenna to replace the “useless nag” he is stuck with.

During the long stretch of the day, one of Achreny's horses will collapse in its harness, and he cuts it loose, leaving it to die.
