The Dominion of Arninyast

Prior to The Republic of Siressa's intervention in Arninyast's (Ar-nin-yast) affairs, The Order of the Seven ruled the nation with an iron fist. In their never ending drive to push the boundaries of alchemy, nothing was off limits. As well as more standard alchemy studies, human enslavement and experimentation were common, a fact that can be clearly seen in the towns and cities of Arninyast even to this day.
"Half-bloods", common races genetically changed through years of experiments involving local creatures and other concoctions, can be found throughout Arninyast society. Their standing army, known as the Legion of the Crimson Fang, are a ferocious fighting force consisting of common races mixed with hyenas (gnolls). Their secret police, dubbed The Whispering Eye, are a vicious and manipulative group of common races mixed with serpents (yuan-ti). These are just some of the more prominent half-blood races. Many more can be seen in everyday life in Arninyast.
While many citizens of Arninyast lived in fear of The Order, many more were in fact loyal to their rulers. The Legion of the Crimson Fang and The Whispering Eye provided them with protection from internal and external threats, and The Order's more benign advancements in alchemy provided a standard of living that would otherwise have been unimaginable in the Smouldering Sands. So long as you did what you were told, and did not descent, you could try to live your life as best you could. After centuries of such an existence, perhaps it was no real surprise that when the Empire freed the citizens of Arninyast, many did not know what to do with this freedom.
