The Wandering Blades

The Wandering Blades are a mercenary company, based primarily out of Safehaven. Contrary to how most mercenary companies tend to operate, The Blades do not simply work for the highest bidder. They work for those they feel are in the right and towards goals that will be best for the common people. If you are a landowner looking to quell an uprising of peasants, The Blades are not the crew for you. If anything, once alerted to your intnet, you may find The Blades lined up alongside the very same peasants you wished to step on.   Formed by Dain Runeheim (known simply as Ironfoot to most members) The Wandering Blades came about when Dain grew disillusioned with the military and the corrupting politics that placed the worth of the people below that of coin and "progress". Over the years they have acquired a reputation for being on the "right" side when it comes to various disputes. Though generally distrustful of the military and government officials, Dain has used the money the Blades have earned through lucrative contracts to stock the Blades coffers, thereby allowing them to take on jobs for free when those in need cannot pay.   The Blades count their numbers at over a hundred strong, though many of these members wander the lands (sometimes in small groups) seeking out work in line with The Blades values and offering their services for free at times for those who truly need it.   Motto: "Protect those who can not protect themselves."   Beliefs: The Wandering Blades beliefs can be summarised as follows:  
  • Governments should protect their people, regardless of the ramifications.
  • Those who can pay for protection should. Those who can not should not be denied it.
  • A sword can protect as well as a shield in the right hands. Stop problems before they start.

    Goals.

    Stay aware of the political situation around you; change can bring strife so we must be prepared. Speak to the people, learn the truth of those in power. Lies come naturally to politicians, take their coin but do not trust them. Use your judgement: if someone can not pay for help do not deny it to them.

    Typical quests for The Wandering Blades include protecting villages from cruel landowners, stopping bandit raids, seeking out knowledge of government officials, and even overthrowing monarchs.
