The Ka'Huun Rift

The Ka'Huun Rift also known as the Amethyst Star is the dimensional plane that houses the mysterious Ka'Huun Shol Fragments. In this plane there are tectonic storms with white and purple lightning cascading accross the dark and forbidding horizon. Apart from these hazards are the denizens of the realms. Ka'Huun Soldiers.
Made of Amethyst rock and pink mists the Ka'Huun army is the only other natural light in the realm. Earthquakes of raw energy shift these creatures back to the surface. Scavenging forging and fighting are their laws. Anything goes in the Rift and woe be to any foolhardy mage or enchanter who enters alone.
Few and far between are adventurers seen in the Rift by choice. Those that survive are called Rift mages who are highly regarded and feared. The risk has great rewards as well. Rift mages can create unique weapons and armor and even bring Ka'Huun Soldiers to other battlefields. This last ability cannot be done without personally entering the Rift.
Entering and leaving has a price. You cannot take out without bringing something in first. If nothing is brought the mage cannot leave. The Rift remembers your generous contributions or lack thereof. Of considerable note is that there is only one structure on an island. A library. Dozens of books are added and lost daily. Like the rift the architecture of the library is under constant rearrangement. Rotating shelves submerged bookcases and caverns of knowledge and lost creatures forbidden to remerge save but once every thirty-eight years.
A well of secrets lies beyond ancient doors to deep and too dark to be found save by some few fortunate souls. Leaving with them is a battle all unto it's own.
Before the Reformation of Gigornous, Darkwing academy was the site of a gateway to the Ka'Huun Rift. Unable or perhaps no longer willing to destroy such a precious and terrible resource, Ailu locked it away to be forgotten until the time is right.
