Lavie Battier
Physical Description
She's very thin, and not very athletic at all.
She's fairly pale, and pretty skinny. She looks like you could kick her ass, and honestly, if it's a physical fight with no magic, you probably can. She looks around 16-17, but is actually 19
Everything about her face is round and soft. She looks younger than she is, mostly due to her face.
Right handed, tends to make herself look smaller, usually completely unintentionally. She's just used to it.
She naturally had a pretty decent sized affinity for water magic, and practiced a lot. She's very good at it, and not much else.
Hates wearing cute things, sticks to oversized shirts and athletic shorts.
Mental characteristics
Lavie was born in Daenia to two moms, and she can’t remember a single positive experience with them. Throughout most of her childhood, they’d emotionally and sexually abuse her, sometimes even prostituting her out to different people. This went on until she was ten years old, at which point, her moms were investigated on suspicions of distributing/possessing CP, and Lavie was taken from their home. She was promptly placed in a mental hospital, mostly to evaluate just how much damage her moms did, the answer being a lot. After a few weeks, she was placed in an orphanage, since it was deemed that she really shouldn’t go into foster care. Right off the bat, it was clear she still wasn’t stable at all. She feared adults, particularly adult women, immensely, making it very difficult to care for her. The fact that she’d seem to break into a panic at the drop of a hat didn’t help much at all.
After about two months of refusing to interact much out of pure fear of everyone around her, another orphan named Vercana approached her. Lavie was fairly apprehensive at first, but after realizing Vercana wasn’t a threat, she latched onto her. Vercana became a big sister to Lavie, comforting her whenever she needed it, and helping Lavie learn that no, not everyone is going to hurt her. Slowly, Lavie learned to actually somewhat trust those around her, making a couple friends other than Vercana even. Over the five years Vercana lived with her at the orphanage, Lavie ended up becoming fairly functional, even having a part time job at 15, when Vercana had to leave. However, she ended up quitting not long after Vercana left. She didn’t realize just how dependant she was on Vercana to function, and not having her around didn’t go very well. She ended up failing out of high school just because of general mental health issues. She managed to get somewhat back on track at around 17, though, and was able to live on her own when she had to leave. She actually ended up finding Vercana again at 19, during a tournament. They just had a decent amount of catching up to do.
She's technically been through middle and high school, but she took too many sick days in middle to really know what she was doing, and didn't graduate high school due to a combination of bad grades and excessive sick days.
She's worked part time at a few different grocery stores, and that's it.
She developed pretty damn good coping skills due to all the bullshit she dealt with, and failed at dying when she was 10.
She tried to die when she was 10, feels like Vercana did a lot for her but she didn't do anything for Vercana.
Nine years after everything with her moms, she still has a few issues, but they're not nearly as bad as when she first arrived at the orphanage. She'll flinch if someone suddenly reaches out to her, and gets anxious when asked to do something she doesn't know how to, or just isn't good at. She's kind of prone to getting stuck in a self hating loop when getting criticized, but she's learned to get herself out of it. It's just better to follow a criticism with a compliment with her, though. She still would rather avoid dressing cute, but it's not like she'll have a panic attack over a dress. It just brings back bad memories, and she'd rather not deal with them. The only thing that really does send her into a panic is if someone touches her in a way she doesn't like or expect. She'll absolutely break down if someone grabs her ass, but if you give a warning she'll probably actually just look really confused. She also fears messing up, but now she's able to rationalize it. Unless she's already particularly anxious, she'll be fine. Lastly, due to her parents and "clients" using her, she really would rather avoid sex. She kind of wants to have it, but she's scared, thinking what if she doesn't like it and her partner doesn't stop? Stuff like that. If she were to do anything, she would rather avoid vaginal.
Personality Characteristics
She has none, really. She hasn't figured it out yet.
Great at water magic, pretty good coping skills. Because she had to learn to deal with a lot of her own shit, she's pretty well versed in what to say vs what not to say to someone who's scared or possibly dealing with trauma. She's not very good at just about any other magic, and is a little on the clumsy side.
She knows how to deal with a lot of mental issues, both her own and helping others with theirs, and likes helping others a lot. She doesn't like when people are upset, especially when they remind her of herself when she was little.
She can try a little too hard to be helpful, not really in an overbearing way but in a going too far and making them feel worse way.
History
Vercana essentially adopted Lavie as a little sister when they were kids. While they're not blood related, they're incredibly close
