Fort Bowie
Originally established to protect the road between Tucson and Mesilla from Confederate raiders, Fort Bowie now serves the same purpose against the Chirachua Apaches. It is better fortified than most army posts in the territory with stone and adobe walls. A deep well provides consistent water.
