Skills and Training
If this is your first term in any career, take all of the Career Skills at level-0 as your "basic training". If a skill is already at level-0 or higher, it does not get increased. If this is not your first term overall, but it is your first term as a Lawman, you may take any one Career Skill at level-0.

An investigation goes badly awry. Roll Investigate 8+ or Culture (Underworld) 8+. If you fail, roll on the Mishap Table. If you succeed, increase either Deception, Jack-of-All-Trades, or Tactics by +1
You solve a major theft and the victim is suitably grateful. Gain DM +1 on one Benefit roll for this career.
An expert takes you under their wing. Roll EDU 8+ to increase any one skill that you already have by one level.
A criminal leads you on a long cross country chase. Gain +1 Survival or +1 Recon.
Roll on the Life Event Table.
You end up having to spend a lot of time in saloons watching suspects. Gain +1 Gambling.
You spend a lot of time dealing with non-English speakers. Gain +1 in a Language.
An article is written about you in a big city newspaper. Gain +1 REP.
You capture an infamous criminal. You are automatically promoted.
An investigation leads you to one of the native communities. Gain +1 Liaison and a Ally in that community.
Mishaps
If a mishap occurs, the term ends before completion. Do not roll for an end of term benefit or cash. Roll 1D /2 to determine how many years the term lasted.
Injured. Roll on the Injury Table.
You have been implicated in a scandal. Roll Advocate 8+. If you succeed, you keep the Benefit from this term. If you roll a 2, you must take the Prisoner career in your next term.
The brother of a criminal you killed gets revenge. Lose an Ally, Contact or family member. Gain an Enemy.
A criminal you jailed returns and ambushes you. Roll on the Injury Table and gain an Enemy.
You arrested the son of a powerful person in the area. They had you removed from your position. Lose the Benefit Roll for this term.
Severely Injured. Roll twice on the Injury Table and take the lower result.
