Caspian

God of the Sea

Caspian is the mighty god of the sea associated with power, life, and chaos. The species of this deity is often questioned with the only consistent belief of him being an aquatic being, some interpret this to be Obsidea-like, others claim it is more similar to a Merfolk or even that of a colossal shark. Caspian belongs to two separate pantheons and holds a prominent place in them, these being the Pantheon of Nature and the Pantheon of Life. He is the pinnacle of no pantheon but holds a place among the strongest of gods, rumored to be one of the eldest and an equal in raw power to the Draconic god Kallex with complete mastery of the ocean's might. He is depicted in many forms but the most common is a blue-to-greenish humanoid of massive proportions that dwarfs even the largest of sea creatures. This god is often depicted moving through the murky depths with an obscured form, a spear-like weapon made from the bones of behemoth aquatic creatures from a bygone era rests upon his shoulder, and schools of fish surround him like scattered leaves through a lazy wind.   His tenets and standards are best described through a concept called the wave, an ideal of nature and chaos that harmonizes. The attitude of Caspian can best be learned best by enduring hardship at the hands of the sea or interacting with the races that he created, all aquatic life is his creation and the harsh world of the ocean floor embodies his will. The diverse races of the vast oceans struggle each and every day to survive against their environment while competing with each other for the right to live, those that become champions in this type of world earn the favor of Caspian but those that exhibit weakness are nothing but a wave tossed in the wind to him. Those that would worship him strive for strength and greatness and are survivalists at their core that seek out the challenges of Isekai, settling for nothing and becoming champions by way of the trials he sets before them.

Divine Domains

Caspian is involved in two separate domains due to his status as master of the oceans and creator of the life therein. In order of relevance, he is associated with the Pantheon of Nature and the Pantheon of Life. Clerics and Paladins that worship him usually do so because of the region that they live in whether that means they are from an aquatic race, the coastlines of the continents or make their life sailing the seas. Whenever Caspian is revered as a god his followers will emphasize the harshness of his trials, the need to overcome adversity with perseverance, and adapt to any situation.

Nature

Caspian is considered to be a god within the Pantheon of Nature because of his mastery over the seas and all that lies within their depths. When it comes to aspects of the nature pantheon his influence extends over several races and all aquatic creatures that live within the ocean, despite this he is hardly considered a specialized deity because of the expanse of the seas of Isekai. When it comes to nature his focus is on the harsher aspects that dictate the survival of the fittest as shown by the harsh environments that the ocean shelters within its depths though these are not without their moments of both beauty and chaos, the sea is all-encompassing.

Life

Caspian is considered to be a god within the Pantheon of Life because of his involvement in the creation of all life within the oceans including three different species that the races above ground have encountered: Merfolk, Phorcydes, and Obsidea. When it comes to aspects of the life pantheon his influence is followed as both religion and superstition for those that inhabit the sea or live by it in any fashion. When it comes to life his focus is deeply rooted in the idea of struggle, in the natural chaos of survival and strife that can be seen within nature every day, and those that draw on his power use it not as a source of salvation but as one to overcome the trials of the sea.

Holy Books & Codes

The exploits of Caspian are recorded in a set of scrolls called the Nui, this is a religious text that details the vast history of the oceans and knowledge of the time before Isekai was claimed by the gods. It involves stories of Caspian and the entities that he faced within the depths including the one without end and the tendrils of the depths, both creatures of epic legend that the god cast down into the far depths of the sea. These scrolls include the story of creation for all the life that is seen in the ocean today and the vast secrets that are hidden within the depths but the set is incomplete. The author of the book is reported to be Caspian himself, however, he did not deliver any more than the first scroll of a large set to the races of the Merfolk, the Phorcydes, and the Obsidea while the others are said to reside far in the depths of the ocean where the light does not reach in sacred shrines from a forgotten age.

Holidays

The day dedicated to Caspian is the last day of Spring's Evening when the waters have grown warmer and the sun grows strong in the sky. It is on this day that the ocean comes alive, shrugging off the darker waters of winter and becoming bright with life as creatures and the races of the ocean alike migrate to parts of the water that are abandoned during the colder months. This is a day of observation and celebration, those along the coast and that live under the waves specifically celebrate this as a day of life and recognize those that have survived the cold months of the winter. Those that celebrate this day mark it as an occasion of fasting and remembrance for the trials that they have overcome, celebrating the strength that they have gained from the years and experiences that have come to pass.

Tenets of Faith

A champion of Caspian is only realized through great trials, whether those be on a ship or under the waves the only way to be acknowledged by Caspian is to prove yourself worthy.   Live with freedom and purpose, seek to survive, and never resign yourself to death without struggle.   Courage is the lifeblood of a champion, fear is the essence that preserves them, blending them into a fortitude that grants power and long life.   Power is sometimes given, sometimes attained but its use is not dictated by law or government but by the flow of nature itself.   A true champion is one that overcomes and ventures forth whether it be to the ends of the sea, the bottom of the ocean, or when facing the most dangerous creatures in Isekai. A champion perseveres.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The primary symbol of Caspian is the horizon of the sea, blue to blueish green in color with three distinct waves that protrude along the surface. Other symbols include the side profile of a prehistoric shark that is said to reside in the depths of the ocean, this is usually made of a blue or green gemstone.
