Green Dragonkin

Descendants of Green Dragons

Trade agreements and other contracts rest in the center of a table surrounded by diplomats and other representatives. Elves, Dwarves, Humans, and others discuss the finer points of their agreements, but a heated argument breaks out, prompting the calling of a mediator. Silence falls as a Dragonkin enters the room. There are no more petty arguments or simple disagreements. With the Dragonkin here, it is time for the real negotiations to begin and contracts decided.   Green Dragonkin are the descendants of one of the Elder Races and a Green Dragon. Although their features and silver tongue are obviously inherited, these people are not as manipulative and conniving as their ancestors. They serve as mediators and negotiators, aiding the communities and societies that they have joined with their love of debate and research.   Above all else, these people respect the ability to debate and articulate clearly, as well as the finer points of negotiation. This is their defining purpose, the ability to serve with their silver tongues. In many ways, the Green Dragonkin are much like the Elves with their loquacity and love of language. Here, the ego of Chromatic Dragons is warranted, as the arrival of a Green Dragonkin in a negotiation means that everything has just become more serious.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Green Dragonkin share some specific traits with their Draconic ancestors that prove their ties to the Green Dragons. Their facial features are often sharp, with a jawline that comes to a sharp point, similar to a beard, and whiskers that come from their snout. An intricate crown of horns surrounding a ribbed crest on their heads, large muscular bodies, and a thin pointed tail are also common in Green Dragonkin.   All Dragonkin inherit sharp claws, extremely strong and protective scales, as well as a breath weapon that they can use. Some of these traits are affected by the color of the Dragonkin as the many varieties of Dragons also vary greatly in their abilities. Green Dragonkin often have a resistance to toxins and poisons while their breath weapon releases a paralyzing toxin into the air. This breath weapon is considered very dangerous as only strong Yellow Magic is said to reverse its effects.   Common Colorations

Common Colorations

While their coloration is in their name, Green Dragonkin can still come in a variety of shades of green, matching the shades found in the scales of Green Dragons. Their scales can range from a light lime color to a deep forest green. The color of their eyes has a much smaller range, often only being yellow, brown, red, green, grey, or purple.

Social Structure

Green Dragonkin are one of the few colors of Chromatic Dragonkin that prefers to live amongst other races and societies. While choosing to not live with Metallic Dragonkin, it is possible to find Green Dragonkin scattered throughout the world, often working in professions that require negotiations of various types. Many called them silver-tongued and manipulative, much like the Green Dragons, but in many instances, Green Dragonkin are adept at negotiating and debating, with no ill intent towards anyone.   Rarely will a Green Dragonkin be found in a small village, often choosing larger cities, like the Fearsome Maw and capitals of countries, where their talents can be useful to those in that society. While many are wary of the Green Dragonkin, they are often welcomed into societies, although kept at an arm's length due to the stigma of their color.

I love the juxtaposition of people needing them to make a good deal or negotiate a good contract, but also being wary of them because of their chromatic ancestry.
