A steaming pot of this evening's stew shrouds the face of a young
Firbolg as he bends close to his work station, quickly chopping mushrooms to add to the boiling pot. He has built a makeshift kitchen as the group slowly builds the trading post of
Mithril Mantle. His days are spent preparing meals for the group of twelve with makeshift ingredients in hopes of making the stores last longer. While he is a chef by trade, his knowledge of brewing is what gave him this job, and so he delivers, delicious food paired with delectable drinks.
Pithin is a traditionally trained
Firbolg chef, tested in numerous kitchens throughout the
Fairy King's Wood, but he was not prepared for the work that would come with cooking for an adventuring party, let alone one that would be surviving in the
Underdark for months. He couldn't complain too much, as the group had taken the time to buy spices and stores of wheat, sugar, and salt, more than he had honestly expected. But the other ingredients were not the same as the delicacies of the surface. Here he was asked to cook with strange mushrooms, large chunks of meat from landsharks and other such odd creatures.
While the conditions weren't ideal, the party had at least put his needs first in their building plans, quickly finishing a storeroom for the large quantities of food. Hunks of meat and odd herbs hung from the ceiling while the walls were lined with barrels, some full of spices and other goods, while a handful were full of fresh water for cooking. The ragtag group of adventurers took their meals seriously, using what they had found in the tunnels around their newfound home in any way necessary. Soon the exquisite cooking of the
Firbolg would be on display at the inn in
Mithril Mantle, an achievement he had never reached on the surface.
Aw, he sounds like my sort of character. I'm glad that he's found success with his cooking! :)
