The Wither Blight was a magical drought that fell upon the Fairy King's Wood. While no one is sure what exactly caused the drought and lack of magic, but it is believed that the wood was cut off from the magical flow that comes from the Wandering Forest for a short period of time, which caused a resounding ripple effect of the forest suffering due to that lack of magic.
