Peoples and Places Introduction
Introduction
Thank you for joining the realm of Karenth! Peoples and Places is a selection from the Plane of Karenth, the Sandbox of the Gods.
Each volume of Peoples and Places goes into depth about a single location in Karenth and some of the notable characters which adventurers might come across at the location. The first issue of Golden Cloak Inn and Tavern is a mid sized inn located in the trade district of the mid sized fantasy city of Grayton's Lot.
But Peoples and Places can easily be adapted to any fantasy world. Change the name of the city or location where the inn is located, and any relevant names in the back stories of the NPCs, and you are set to go. In some cases, organizations may be mentioned, and they can also be changed to meet your needs. For instance, in this book the Order of Eight is mentioned. The Order maintains control over most of the Known World by subterfuge, spying, political control, and having agents placed in strategic positions throughout the world. They maintain control in the shadows. If this doesn't work for your world, you can just as easily reference a national or city-state power which might fit, or ignore that piece all together.
In time we hope to bring you much more of the Plane of Karenth and make it a go to place for adventuring. The world will work for almost any fantasy gaming RPG.
Stat blocks are provided in the URLs listed on each characters description, if stat blocks exist. Over time, we will make changes to this document, and those updates should be available where you purchased this.
About the Plane of Karenth
The Plane of Karenth was built many eons ago by the gods. It was intended as a place for the gods to learn more about their powers and how to build new worlds. They would test everything from new types of magics, lifeforms, building landmasses and bodies of liquids. They would test floras and fauna, biodiversity, or just build things to amuse themselves.
But the world was also populated in places with different humanoid and sentient races, some of whom came into contact with one another. This interaction was sometimes peaceful and other times not. In time, one of the human groups became quite powerful and began to dominate much of the lands that are now known as the Known World. In time they integrated with elves, dwarves, halflings, centaur, winged folk, and other to become a multi-racial culture known as the Nethen.
Just over 400 years ago, a large group of refuges fled from the world of Els'tar through an ancient gate they came across, delivering them to the Known World on the Plane of Karenth. The Displaced, as they are known, now occupy the continents of Karenth Centralis and Rora, and numerous islands throughout the Known World.
