Garren Mistcaller
Half-Elf Squall Shaper Wizard - 47 years of age - 5’4” - 135lbs
At 47 years of age Garren Mistcaller is slightly older than others of his prestige, but what he lacks in youth he makes up for with brain. Standing an unimposing five feet four inches tall, and an even less imposing weight of 135lbs, his life of books and leisure (Boat-Watching, he’d call it) doesn’t lend itself to a hardy man. His once brilliant auburn hair is turning a fair shade of gray (thanks to the sun bleached coast he has lived and adventured across through his years), following the path his beard took years ago. His skin is likewise weathered by the Sea and Sun, markedly more tan than his fair-skinned progenitors and brethren, wind lines cross a face that’s most often in a squint of deep thought; probably designing a new hull shape for a keelboat, or a new sail shape for a schooner.
Born to an elf mother and human father aboard the merchant galleon Golden Empress, Garren’s life was shipbound from the beginning. Galena Mist-Voice, an Elf bard and frequent musician at the local tavern won over the heart of a local merchant Stanford Emerson, and Garren’s story was destined from the start. The two companions traveled the coast, with Stanford selling his wares and trading in exotic goods, and Galena playing rousing drinking songs and sobering odes to sea-lost friends. After a hearty decade of traveling the coast together they decided to settle down on the cliffs they loved and start a family. The middle child of three, Garren was able to skirt most of his parents’ ire, with his older sister Brinda taking the brunt of it. She left home as soon as she was able, and no one in the immediate family has heard from her since, it’s been nearly thirty years. Stanford has since passed, peacefully of old age, if a bit upset having not spoken to his daughter since her leaving, often blaming himself for his angry outbursts.
Two decades before his passing however, Stanford fathered another son with Galena, Inderal. Inderal and Garren got on splendidly, with Inderal mimicking Garren’s constant note-taking. It may have been this mimicry that caused Inderal to follow his current path of Academic Scribe at the largest library in the land. Garren and Inderal share a friendly relationship, with Garren often requesting copies of any new books or scrolls on ships that the library might happen to receive. Inderal is also on the lookout for any spellbooks or scrolls containing spells that Garren has yet to learn. Galena is still alive, though through adventuring, she likes to frequent the local tavern to hear new up-and-comers’ tales in trade for a song or two of her own days.
