PAM

My phone keeps ringing like crazy... I know I need to enter Altrea, I'm doing it, stop sending me messages! I enter Altrea and I open the PAM to let them know I am connected, they immediatly send me the name of a Room to go. I swear if this "emergency" is nothing I'm going to ███████████. I hallway to the Room and the PAM tells me my wings aren't allowed in here. I take of my wings in the User's menu... I should probably change the guild, they freak out at every movement of our enemies.

PAM (Personal Altrea Menu) is one of the technologies added to the Altrea dimension. It allows the user access to a menu where they can find different settings to modify, a connection to hermes, personalize their avatar, and a disconnect button. More or less options can appear depending on which Room the user might be.

Where to find it?

The PAM is hidden inside the Avatar's arms.

To access it, tap your forearm with three fingers at the same time, and it will appear as a semi-transparent screen in fornt of you, coming out a symbol from your arm.

Reality connected

The PAM is connected to the Hermes so users can communicate with others while in or out of Altrea. Users can talk to others that they have added in contacts in both dimensions through the Hermes and the PAM, but to talk with unknown people, they must be in the same room.

The PAM itself is quite simple (on the user-side). It is a floating screen that the user can resize, and move quite easily; they even can change the opacity from the PAM's settings. In the screen, the content is divided into two parts: the sidebar and the main content.

The sidebar only contains the links to the different menus (or tabs) of the PAM as well as the disconnect button and the PAM's settings button. The main content holds all the information of the actual tabs.

Depending on the Rooms one might be, there might be extra tabs (related to the room). The main tabs, that are always in the PAM, are: Avatar, Hermes, and PAM settings. Optional tabs (or tabs that appear in specific places): include: Hall settings, Hallways settings, Room settings.

Menus

Avatar

The avatar's menu is where the Avatar personalization happens. This is the tab that first opens when activating the PAM and it also works as the inventory when the user is in a game Room. It can be accessed from everywhere, although more or less content will appear.

Settings

Here one can find general settings of the PAM. In it, one can customize how the PAM appears, as well as the symbol appearing in the avatar's arm. Language, colors, accessibility, and such are things that can be changed from here. It can be accessed from everywhere.

Hall & Hallways

These two menus can only accessed when the user is in the Hall. Each one allows the user to personalize and configure their hall or hallways.

Rooms

This menu changes at each Room the user is at, to adapt the content to whatever is needed in the room.

Disconnect button

A button to disconnect Altrea dimension.

Hermes

Contacts are stored here, and chats between other users also happen here. Saved contacts can be either friends, neutrals, and enemies. Groups, parties, guilds can be find in this tab as well as a general chat of all the users in the room. There are various kinds of chats (more or less chats depending on the room they are in):

Strangers

Users not added to contacts can reach the user through the general, guild or party chat, while in the same room. When they leave and they have not been added, their chat will be deleted.
  • Individual: a chat between the user and a single contact/stranger. It is private.

  • Group: a chat between a group of at least three users. It is private.

  • Party: a chat between the party the user has entered in a room (a party can be from a group of people playing through a dungeon of a game to a group of people visiting a museum that are being explained what they see by a museum's worker). The party is half private, only the participants can read it, but if another user enters the party, they can see all the previous messages. Parties can be fully private if they ask for a password to be able to join the party. They are specific to the room the user is in.

  • Guild: similar to a party chat, but they do not disappear when all the participants disconnect. Not all rooms have guilds (principally videogame rooms), and they are specific to the rooms. They are private.

  • General: its a chat between all the users of the room. It is muted by default, and public.

Customization

  • Symbol: the symbol that appears on the user's forearm when the PAM is activated can be fully personalizated. The symbol can be whatever the user likes and the colour and glow can be choosen as well. The glow on the symbol can be turned off, and the symbol can be visible all the time if the user chooses too.

  • Screen: the screen is not very customized, only its color can be changed and how much opacity it has. The font text and colour can be changed, but not their size. Size of the screen can be changed and it is in beta to be able to change its shape as well.

I didn't think an article about a menu system could be so interesting - well done! :D

Let me say if we weren't about to do a game in my world, I sure as hell would love to play something in Khulgran. All the pieces for a great game are there and I'm sure you can turn this into something amazing.   Also, if you'll have this feedback, with time the games industry has become keener on accessibility, so if this is set to be a future-earth mindset, you can take that into account when discussing settings and customization.   Great article Cato can't wait to see what you do next ^^
