Leithinis

Leithinis is a grim and gritty world with some resemblance to medieval times. Although it is a fantasy world, there aren't any elves or dwarves. There are also no wizards who can cast spells or fireballs from their magical staves. Magic and the supernatural is hinted at by way of the protagonists encountering various phenomena that would be hard to explain through the natural laws of nature and science.   Because their exploits and adventures take place in a world that is predominantly human and realistic, the protagonists of the stories do not have the typical, celebrated and familiar superhero traits and abilities of other works.   Leithinis is a peninsula on a much larger continent. The inhabitants are unable to travel anywhere outside the natural borders of the peninsula. To the north is a huge impassable mountain range, and a coastline runs in a V shape from the mountains down towards the southern tip.   The peninsula itself is self-sufficient. It has its own mines, farms, villages, hamlets, and towns. There are also two fairly large cities located on opposite sides of the peninsula. The cities are fairly self-contained but have areas that are out of bounds to individuals who are not native to that city. It is common that people will have never travelled far beyond the limits of their own city.
