Elbel Vehlow-Boerk
Hero of Netter
Never again, mother. You did not stand upon those bloodstained fields with men, both peasant and noble alike, wailing in agony, knowing that they will never again see the loved ones they've left behind.
Mediation
While the general is primarily known for his valiant contributions during the Sarzin Conflict, one his actions that was arguably braver and even more impactful was going against the wishes of his mother and collaborating with the Ausselian government to strengthen the new alliance that had been forged between the peasants’ republic and the Empire of Pallernen. Cilie Vehlow had feared that any alliance with a far greater power would result in the ally gaining far too much power over Aussel, threatening the republic’s independence. When the Peasants' Party, who Vehlow's Independent Monarchists has been in a coalition with, reached out to the newly coronated Emperor Hânsil II of Pallernen, Cilie Vehlow viewed it as unacceptable and withdrew her party from the government, resulting in snap elections soon after. As the political chaos was whirling through the Ausselian parliament, Elbel Vehlow-Boerk reached out to both Boguslaw Hittel, the leader of the Peasants’ Party, and the Imperial Court of Pallernen. He had hoped that his mother’s fears could be done away with if their own flesh and blood was tied to the throne of their new ally and luckily for him, both the emperor and his own daughter were unmarried. The plot to arrange a marriage between Emperor Hânsil II and Aliczylle Vehlow-Boerk went ahead before Elbel informed his mother, but once an imperial emissary had returned with the monarch’s answer, there was no more hope of avoiding the conversation. Elbel did all he could to appeal to his mother’s morality and beliefs, and although it took hours of arguing, the two had eventually seen eye-to-eye and Cilie Vehlow gave her consent to the marriage and the alliance as a whole.
