Pesberge
The Gate of Rueken
The city of Pesberge is a vast fortified settlement located on the eastern border of the Aristocratic Republic of Rueken, which is ruled by Gyczel Aue, the Countess of County of Pessen. Known for its narrow shape, the settlement stretches from shore to shore, following along the outer walls which block access to the narrow isthmus to those who'd seek to invade. The western side of the city is bare in comparison, possessing only a few defensive structures to guard the settlement's inhabitants from threats from within Rueken itself. Most of that side of Pesberge is dedicated to agriculture and regular housing.
Despite their critical importance to the security of the realm, the people of Pesberge, and all of Pessen in general, have a habit of defying the various heads of state that reign from Eekberge. Pesbergers have rejected the adoption of Baglāmēq Hūril, which was forced on them, a populace devoted to Hillen. The quarrels between the Count of Pessen and the Chancellor of Rueken reached an all-time high during the midst of the Sarzin conflict, in which Chancellor Kilas ven Leiberge-Kattel, acting as the Duke of Nordhei, waged war on the Hillenist peasants of Aussel. Pesberge was ruled by Count Gawin of Pessen, at the time, and he felt a strong sense of duty to protect his brothers and sisters in faith, going as far as to sending out forces to assist in the defence of Aussel. The men of Pesberge played a pivotal part in the Battle of the Lipsig Hills, where they ensured the safety of the Lipsig with their pikes and handguns.
